Hello Sierra Unified Community,

What a truly special time it is in our mountain community. The Tollhouse Derby was a tremendous success and a beautiful event that showcased all that is best about Sierra Unified. Events like this remind us how fortunate we are to live and work in a place where community, tradition, and generosity come together so seamlessly. Thank you to the Sierra Foundation, Blassingame Ranch, Clovis Rotary, Michelle Cantwell-Cofer, and all of our incredible sponsors who made this event possible. Your continued support directly impacts our students and schools in meaningful ways.

As we move fully into spring, our campuses are alive with activity and celebration. Open House at Foothill Elementary on April 16th was fantastic. It was a joy to see families and students visiting classrooms, celebrating learning, and connecting with our amazing staff. A special thank you to our Kindergarten and TK Round-Up team for creating such a welcoming experience for our newest Eagles. We are so grateful to our parents for ensuring their children are ready to begin their educational journey at Foothill prepared and excited. Our teachers, nurses, and support staff truly went above and beyond to greet and support our incoming students.

State testing is now underway at Sierra Junior Senior High School, and we are incredibly proud of our students for putting their best foot forward. Their focus and effort are a reflection of the hard work happening in classrooms every day. Next week, Foothill Elementary will begin testing, and we are excited for our students to demonstrate the tremendous growth they have made this year. We know they will represent our district with pride.

Exploring New Opportunities for Our Students: Dual Enrollment Information Night

As part of our ongoing commitment to expanding opportunities for Sierra Unified students, we are exploring the potential launch of a Dual Enrollment Pilot Program in partnership with Clovis Community College.

Dual enrollment allows high school students to take college-level courses and earn college credit while still enrolled in high school – for FREE. For many students, this can be a powerful way to get a head start on their college journey, build confidence in a college setting, and explore academic and career interests early.

At Sierra Unified, our focus is always on creating pathways that prepare students for success—whether that means college, career, or both. A thoughtfully designed dual enrollment program has the potential to do just that by expanding access to rigorous coursework and helping students envision what comes next after graduation.

To help families better understand this opportunity, we are hosting an informational meeting on April 23rd. During this session, district staff and representatives from Clovis Community College will walk through what dual enrollment is, how it works, what the student experience looks like, and what a pilot program could look like here in Sierra Unified.

This meeting is intended to provide clarity and information. We want families to have a clear

understanding of the program, its benefits, and what participation could mean for students. There will also be time to answer questions.
