About Sierra Junior High School

warriors logoSierra Junior High School is part of the Sierra High School campus, which was founded in 1921. It is located in a beautiful valley between the foothill communities of Tollhouse, Prather, and Auberry, approximately 35 miles from Fresno. The district is located in Fresno County and draws students from a 2,100 square mile area.

students in classroomDue to the junior high cohort size, the school can offer smaller class sizes, allowing staff to know all the students and work with them as individuals. The smaller cohort size also allows the school to provide a dedicated counselor for grades 7-8 to meet their unique needs. It is an environment that provides the best of small-school familiarity with larger school offerings, including a full range of educational, athletic, and extracurricular opportunities for students.

Being part of the Sierra High School campus provides the junior high students with several benefits. It gives accelerated students early access to advanced high school-level classes such as Spanish 1 and Math 1. All Junior High electives are taught by high school level or CTE certifieded teachers. It also allows them to familiarize themselves with the campus, as well as the high school staff, students, and community that they will eventually be part of, which can help ease the transition from junior high to high school.
